  • Very important to define the unit of value exchanged between the participants
  • Sometimes the interaction happens on the platform but actual value unit is delivered outside e.g Uber, AirBnB
  • Network effects are very important in growing the platform

Hacking Growth: How Today’s Fastest-Growing Companies Drive Breakout Success

  • Describes the need, impact & process for experimentation
  • Has some concrete examples of contemporary businesses

Blue Ocean Strategy - How to create uncontested market space & make the competition irrelevant

  • Describes how to create a niche market (referred as Blue Ocean) away from the competition (referred as Red Ocean)
  • Key is to look at value curves of competitors & then map out your offering such that it’s not similar to them

Crossing the Chasm, 3rd Edition: Marketing and Selling Disruptive Products to Mainstream Customers

  • Early market - Innovators (Visionaries), Early adopters (Visionaries)
  • Mainstream market - Early Majority (Pragmatists), Late Majority (Conservatives), Laggards (Skeptics)
  • Explains why some products fail to become mainstream (this is the chasm) & then explains ways to address this
